Landscape Oil Painting Workshop

DESCRIPTION:
This is a one day oil painting class, using a Wet on Wet painting technique. You will complete your very own painting with step by step instruction during this class. Please bring an apron or something to wear over your clothes- or wear something you don’t mind getting paint on. Please bring a bag lunch and a beverage. We will take a short lunch break. Water and a light snack will be available.

DESCRIPTION:
The first day of this 2 day workshop you will create things in clay- animals, pinch pots, the sky is the limit! Maria will fire your pieces in her kiln and will bring them back for the second class so you can glaze them. Maria will take them and fire them in her kiln again after you have glazed them. They will be brought back to the Art House after the second firing for you to pick-up. No previous experience needed. This class is for 16 years old and up.
Intermediate to advanced hand built pottery

Description: This class is for those who have a lot of experience in clay or have taken several of our beginner classes. In this 4 week class, we will focus on creating different glazing techniques and surface textures. You will learn and try different clay bodies, as well as different firing temperatures. Students will have several pieces to take home and show off, at the end of this session. All supplies and firings are included. Students will also learn about firing pottery during this class.
Alcohol Inks WORKSHOP

Description: Alcohol inks are vibrant, shiny and easy to do. If you are curious about how to use them, Christy will show you some tricks. You will go home with some beautiful creations.
Supply List: Alcohol Inks- Jacquard brand (Jacquard makes a beginner set, or you can purchase individual bottles , if you prefer certain colors.), Yupo Paper, Drinking Straw (A big one, like a smoothie straw, is best. Any straight straw will work), 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, Disposable Gloves, Q-Tips, Smock, 1 glass or porcelain container (like a vase or mug from the Dollar Store), Dollar Store shower curtain liner (to protect your workspace)
Drawing From Nature Workshop

Description: In this one day workshop we will start in the classroom with an introduction to concepts of “Drawing from Nature”. Please bring some references of “nature related subjects” to work from. (We will have some to share too.) Bring whatever art supplies you’d like to work with- ie. pencils, colored pencils, watercolors/brushes, pastels, acrylics…your choice, a sketch book, small canvases… We will be creating several things during this workshop, and weather permitting, we will go outside and create something “plein aire” (from life).

Mixed Media with Collage

DESCRIPTION:
In this class you will create a piece of art on watercolor paper using paper collage, various mark making techniques, acrylic inks, acrylic paints, gel pens, paint markers, pencils, etc. Papers will include pre-painted tissue, napkins, doilies, scrapbooking, cardboard and more. Students of all levels can achieve a fun, finished piece of art. All supplies will be provided. The class should take about 3 hours. Come prepared to have fun! The image shown above will be our inspiration!
Collage Paper Painting Class

DESCRIPTION: Learn various techniques to create painted papers using a limited palette on many different types of paper, which will be used in the final session to create finished collage works of art. Preparing collage papers will include use of acrylic paints, markers, Stabilo All Pencil, Gel pens, stencils, and stamping Several paper types to be used include printer, deli, tissue, kraft, book and catalog pages and others. All supplies and tools will be provided by the instructor as the supply list is extensive. (A list will be provided in class if you want to purchase your own supplies.)

Acrylic Pouring Class

Description:
This class is for beginners and beyond. No experience is necessary. In this class you will create 2 acrylic pouring paintings. You decide on your color scheme(s). Learn several “Acrylic Pouring Techniques” and decide which ones you’d like to use. **Please bring 2- 8x10 or smaller canvases to this class (per person)** (wood frame canvases work best- canvas panels can warp). Your pieces will need to dry at the Art House for a day or so, before you bring them home. This class can be messy! Please dress appropriately. Bring a snack if desired. DESCRIPTION:
This class is for beginners as well as those with prior experience. In this class you will create masterpieces with glass fusing. Glass pieces are first cut and layered, then fused in a kiln. Your creations can then be placed in a mold and fired again to change the shape. You will have one of a kind works of art when you are finished.

Description: Participate in this (2 day/2 hours each day) class and learn the basics of stained glass using the copper foil method. Intended for those wanting to learn the basic steps and those seeking a refresher course. Practice cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering and finishing. You will end up with your very own handmade stained glass sun catcher. Supplies are provided and the photo above has examples of the class projects. Students will be select a design and choose their own glass colors.

This 4 week course is designed for beginning to intermediate oil painters. This class will be fine tuned to the experience levels of the students. We will be building new skills each week and drawing upon skills from prior weeks’ lessons. If you’re new to oil painting or experienced- but frustrated by previous painting experiences and/or feel you’re not improving- this class is for you. We will be working “alla prima” on smaller canvases, 9x12 or 11x14. Students will be participating in various “painting exercises” with lots of coaching at their easel. Instructor will demo. About Ann: Ann has been taking art classes here since January 2023, and taught her first YOUTH art class in May 2023. Previously, she received her BFA in Fine Arts in NY and taught Youth Art at Mission: Renaissance Fine Art in Sierra Madre, CA for 4 years and was professionally trained in Oil, Pastel, Sketching, and Watercolor at their HQ in Pasadena. She adores children and creating art with them.
Description: Each 3 or 4 or 6 week session includes the same Drawing and Painting basics, yet no class is ever repeated in content. We start with “Draw What You See” which includes mindfully observing the Subject and noticing its Darks, Lights, and Middle tones, values and shadows. Your child will learn to draw with more accuracy using charcoal and pencil and to make marks more lightly as we get ready for Basic Watercolor. Here we learn about color mixing, and use several different techniques and washes to create the Subject in color. This is a fun class, and everyone is celebrated.
